December 01 2007: Annual Christmas Project a Success
This December, hundreds of children at-risk children gathered to receive a brand new gift generously donated to them. Each year, generous people from New York and around the country open up their hearts and partner with us to bring smiles to young people in times of need during this holiday season. Many organizations and individuals partnered with us to secure and wrap toys. Thank you.
November 18 2007: Thanksgiving Dinners served to over 800 in-need
On Sunday November 18 2007, Children of the City donated a complete Thanksgiving meal that feeds 6, to over 100 families-in-need, at a special event in Brooklyn. On Monday another approximately 15 families came to our facility to also receive this free meal for 6. That evening we delivered several boxes of these dinners directly to families, and on Tuesday monring we delivered 20 dinners plus additional food earmarked for a battered womens shelter whose children come to our programs. This brings the total to over 800 people just over the course of 3 days.

April 18 2007: Miss Universe visit
The thoughtful and glamorous Miss Universe 2006, Zuleyka Rivera, joined with the Brooklyn based “Children of the City” (COC) organization to combat the pervasive culture of poverty, disease and educational failure at the group’s headquarters on Wednesday, April 18. March 21 2007: Benefit Gala at the Central Park Boathouse
Master of Ceremonies Steve Shirippa and fellow Sopranos star Tony Sirico of the HBO hit series The Sopranos, helped Executive Director Joyce Mattera welcome guest of honor Richard Jefferson of the New Jersey Nets, David Tyree of the New York Giants, singers Pedro Capo and Sylvia Tuson to the Sunset Park based organization.
